Synopsis:

The long-awaited sequel to the bestselling, award-winning King Hall: the revolution is here, but the most dangerous attack may come from within…

The safe, comfortable world of Lily Ruckler and her fellow Mystical Kings and Queens is rocked to the core by the attacks at King Hall. Not only does Lily have to kill the Commoners attacking her people, she also has to assume the mantle of leadership, and bring the surviving Mysticals to King Cave.

It should have been too much, but she is not alone. Ezra becomes her rock, her best friend, the one person who understands. As Pearl and Jack struggle with inconsolable loss, Ezra and Lily work to keep the Mys community safe in their new home, and plan a deadly retaliation.

Their friendship saves them both…but it also draws attention. Whispers. Judgment. It’s not normal for Shifters and Vampires to be friends, and when a horrifying truth is revealed, their relationship morphs from unusual to unspeakable. Lily is good at keeping secrets that could get her killed. Is she willing to risk Ezra’s life as well?

Review:

Grade: A+ (Five Stars and Beyond)

I loved this book. I can’t even begin to explain the depth of my love for this book.  It’s just got everything I was hoping for and more, and the Dawn takes it and tangles it up again, just making us all struggle and wait for the next one! AH! In this book you get to see more about the Prodigy, and also about they way of life for Mystical, as all walks are together in King Cave, prepping for the possible Com/Mystical war.  Ok, so things I loved about this book (without giving too much away…) is the humor. We all know it’s a dark time for the Mystical community, but Dawn weaves such brilliant humor into this book, it really helps keep a good balance from the light and the heavy. OH boy is there heavy though! I can’t give anything away, cause I hate spoilers, but this book is going to make you cry. Right after you laugh, and take a cold shower, you are going to cry your eyes out because when I saw HEAVY, I mean it, with all caps. Dawn does not give us a happily ever after world right now, brink of war, friends, lovers, and everything in between comes into play in this book. Possibly things, if you are like me, you’ve been hoping for since you started reading King Hall! 🙂 This is the middle book, so there’s one more after this, and I promise you, when you get to the end, you’ll be screaming at Dawn, “Release the next book, do it right now!!!!!” because there’s so much rolled into this seemingly harmless cliffhanger, that you are just dying. Overall, Dawn keeps up the brilliant witty writing, wonderful character development, steamy scenes, and pulls you heart all over the place. You do not want to miss this follow up! It tops the original in every way, and I didn’t think it was possible! Well Done Scarlett Dawn! 🙂
